The extra "Future Connected" story content to be included with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is arguably one of the most exciting things to come from the upcoming remaster. Thanks to a Famitsu interview with Tetsuya Takahashi, some more details have now been revealed about the epilogue.

It will take approximately 10-12 hours to complete the main story of Future Connected, but around 20 hours to beat everything including the side content. That's quite a bit of extra gameplay to really earn the "definitive" title, if a complete remaster of the original game wasn't enough. Takahashi revealed that the story could have possibly been longer if development was done as DLC rather than additional base game content, but Monolith Soft decided against the idea due to resource restraints it would cause on other in-production titles.

Monolith Soft's First Production staff was divided into three sections: one section to work on Xenoblade: Definitive Edition, one to work on a new title, and one to work on both.
Since this is a remaster, Monolith Soft was not able to re-record all the music with an orchestra. Instead, they improved the quality and rearranged it.
Data compression is better mitigated and sound quality more enhanced compared to Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
