Earlier today, Nintendo stated that Switch game boxes would feature a new icon to let players know that a title is compatible with the Switch Lite. The eShop will do the same by including the same icon. What happens if people ignore that icon and go ahead to purchase anyway" No worries, as Nintendo has confirmed that the eShop itself will give you a warning if you try to actually purchase a title incompatible with Switch Lite.
